    (Munich 648) War Crimes Trials - Subsequent Trial Proceedings, Case 4 (Pohl Case), Verdict and Sentencing, Nuremberg, Germany, November 5, 1947.   3. Foreign Office: General Correspondence, Russia

    Contains correspondence relating to the treatment of Jewish businessmen in Russia, in general, and of Leon Lewisohn, in particular. Leon Lewisohn, a German-born businessman and naturalized British citizen, was ejected from Imperial Russia and denied the ability to conduct business because he was Jewish. The British Foreign Office interceded with Imperial Russia on his behalf.

    Consists of a black and white photograph of a group of men in prisoners' uniforms standing near a cart containing corpses. Beside the cart are two prisoners carrying a stretcher with a corpse. The donor found the photograph in a book purchased at Goodwill in San Diego, CA.

    The Anita Epstein papers contain photographs and documents concerning Salek and Eda Kuenstler's efforts to place Anita, their infant daughter, in hiding during the Holocaust. Documents include letters from Eda and Salek begging the Zendler family to hide Anita as their own child for the duration of the war and notes promising payment for her safety. Also included is a tag worn by Anita while aboard the USS Taylor and a note to Anita from a member of the Zendler family after a reunion visit in 1985.
