The footage for this film comes from the camera of a mountain hunter of the former 1st Mountain Division Mittelwald. Includes fight at 50 degrees below zero, flagging on the 5,633 meter high Elbrus and daily life of the soldiers in an occupied country.

    Contains two letters written by Dr. Jacob Tombak (donor's grand uncle), who was a child psychiatrist in Warsaw, Poland, to his sister, Lillie (donor's grandmother), in which he describes his many efforts to obtain a US visa. Dr. Tombak would later be in the Warsaw ghetto, and he did not survive.

    Self portrait by Gyorgy Beifeld (George Byfield) given as a gift to H.W. (Peter) Tebbutt, an Australian solicitor. Beifeld was deported from Budapest, Hungary, in March 1944 to Auschwitz concentration camp. He was later transferred to Dachau where he was liberated by American troops of the 7th Army on April 19, 1945.
