  1. Rudolph Ferdinand Kurz collection

    Letters sent to Dr. Rudolph Ferdinand Kurz (donor’s maternal grandfather), a physician in Cincinnati, OH, from three different Jewish Viennese families, all with the last name Kurz, pleading for financial support and assistance in immigration to the United States. Ultimately, one family made it to Australia and the other two families made it to New York.

  3. Guthaner family papers

    Consists of prewar photographs of the donor's parents, Regina and Ernst Guthaner, before they immigrated to Australia in 1939. Also includes a manuscript of Ernst's biography and Regina and Ernst's family papers.

  4. Yvette Farnoux collection

    Consists of clippings from Le Combat newspaper of an article written by Yvette Baumann Bernard Farnoux with a cover page in Yvette's handwriting and an English translation of the article. There are also copy prints of Yvette and her family during the war, as well as post-liberation, when she reunited with her second cousin Rene Bine, Jr, MD (the donor's father) in Paris in 1945.

  5. Gotlieb family collection

    The Gotlieb family collection is comprised primarily of documents and photographs the experiences of Szajndla (later Sally) Frydman Gotlieb and her husband, Zacharias (later Sam) Gotlieb [donor's parents] who were both from Radom, Poland, and were both survivors of the Holocaust.The documents include Sally's DP card issued in Germany and paperwork issued by the United States Consulate in Stuttgart, Germany, in April 1946 to serve "in lieu of passports" for both Sally and Sam.   6. Lepehne family papers

    Includes identification documents such as two Reisepass, or passports, for both Max Georg (Georg Israel) and Caecilie (Fran Georg) Lepehne that names their daughter, Renate Lara Lepehne, before they fled Cologne, Germany in 1939. There are also two Kennkarten, or identification cards, for both Caecilie and Renate. Also included are notarized copies of Max Georg's German Medical degree and certificate of his position as a medical doctor.

  7. Franz Hahn photograph collection

    Comprised of 14 photographs pertaining to the experiences of Franz Hahn (b. 1920-) who served in a Wehrmacht propaganda company. The bulk of the photographs depict Allied prisoners at an unidentified Stalag.

  8. Selected records from the State Archives of the Andijan Region related to the evacuation of civilians during WWII

    Collection contains records related to the evacuation of civilians to the Andijan Region of Uzbekistan during WWII. It includes correspondence of the state authorithies regarding resettlement and employement of evacuated civilians, list of factory workers relocated to Andijan, lists of orphans, correspondence related to search of misssing relatives and other documentation

  10. George Silviu family collection

    Consists of handwritten and typewritten correspondence and thank-you letters addressed to the donors regarding the re-publication of their father George Silviu's books and works of poetry in Romania.

    Files of cases concerning various disputes in which one of the parties was a person of Jewish origin.

  12. Ludwig May reisepass

    Includes the Deutsches Reich Reisepass, or passport, of Dr. Ludwig May (1903-1973), who was a passenger aboard the MS St. Louis after his 1938 internment at Buchenwald.

  13. Salpeter family collection

    The collection consists of correspondence, claim forms, documentation, banking statements, and receipts for payments to file paperwork illustrating the experiences of Claire (Klara) Salpeter Greenwald and her attempt to gain reparations from the German government in the 1950s and 1960s and Swiss banks in the 1990s and 2000s. The claims relate to her parents and sisters, including efforts to claim losses for her father's business as well as life insurance policies related to each individual.   14. Więzienie w Olkuszu (Sygn. 698) Prison in Olkusz

    Personal files of prisoners of Jewish origin convicted of various crimes, e.g. theft, fraud. In addition, other materials, e.g. lists of prisoners, statistic data. Personal files contain the prisoner's personal data and characteristics, as well as an accusation and official correspondence.

  15. George Kolinsky collection

    Consists of the handwritten memoir of George Kolinsky (1892-1974), the donor's maternal grandfather, and its English translation, titled A History of the Recent Past, 1939-1945. It was written originally in Yiddish following his arrival in the United States from Poland in 1951 after serving in the underground there between 1939 and 1945.

  16. Johann Przyborowski letter

    Comprised of correspondence sent by Dachau prisoner Johann, "Jan" or "Janek," Przyborowski (b. 1905), a non-Jewish Polish prisoner of Dachau, to his family in Poland concerning the lack of mail he received that year from his loved ones. It also includes guidance not to send parcels since Przyborowski was not permitted to receive them. He also writes that during the recent holidays his thoughts were with his wife and children. Przyborowski was arrested in Łódź in 1940 and sent to Dachau that same year. He was ultimately liberated at Dachau in 1945.

  17. Gedenket der Hungernden

    Consists of a donation card from the Shanghai Ghetto printed on behalf of the "Gedenket der Hungernden", or "Remember the Hungry", charitable organization of the Jewish community in Shanghai during WWII. One side has mimeographed text appealing to members of Shanghai's Jewish community, in German. The verso has a small printed donation form to fill out (in German), and the address of the organization (in English). Also includes an imprinted Chinese mailing stamp of Sun-Yat Sen and additional Chinese text in green.

  18. Selected Records of the College of Journalism in Warsaw Wyższa Szkoła Dziennikarska w Warszawie (wybrane materiały) (Sygn. 221)

    Personal files of students of the College of Journalism in Warsaw from 1925-1939 (number of students approx. 300-400). Initially, the school was located in Warsaw at Małachowskiego Square no 1, then transferred to 44 Rozbrat Street. A typical folder contains a photo, an application for admission to school containing personal data, a short curriculum vitae, original or a copy of birth and secondary school-leaving certificates, various other documents and student book with exam grades.

  19. Adler family papers

    Consists of correspondence received by the Adler family while they were residing as refugees in Switzerland. The letters, primarily addressed to the donor's parents, Camillo Adler (1905-1985) and Martha Kraus (1901-1969), were from other refugees and forced laborers from refugee and labor camps.
