    In this fonds we note two relevant files, originating from the Department of Overseas Relations. See the files “Belgium. Restitution” (C7/1290; 1946) and “Belgium” (C7/1210; 1946-1948).

    This fonds contains 5 files pertaining to Belgium. It includes notably incoming letters from the newspaper Hatikwah (file A127/218; year 1926), letters concerning his trip to i.a. Brussels (A127/824; 1931), letters from the time of Gruenbaums visit to Belgium (A127/622; 1926) and, lastly, card indexes of Yizhak Gruenbaum pertaining to rescue attempts and the situation of the Jews in various countries, including Belgium – see A127/1865 and A127/1873 (1939-1940).

  3. Personal documentation on Jewish life in Belgium during the Holocaust.

    This fonds contains various documents (in many cases, copies) pertaining to the fate of the Jews in Belgium during the Second World War – including copies of the newspaper Le Flambeau, a list of Jewish children hidden by the Comité de Défense des Juifs, lists of resistance fighters, documents concerning war criminals, … and many other copies documents from archives kept by various organisations and institutions in Belgium.

    Durch Kriegseinwirkung sind in Registraturen und Archiv beträchtliche Verluste bei Sach- und Personalakten des 19./20. Jh. entstanden (bei den Sachakten der Sparten Finanz- und Innere Verwaltung v.a. für den Zeitraum 1820–1880); durch neuere Abgaben reicht der Bestand, mit Informationen zu den verschiedensten Zweigen der staat­lichen Behörden und Betriebe durchaus mit Quer­schnittcharakter, bis in die 1970er Jahre; in den Ministerialakten sind z.Zt. noch Vorakten (Geheimer Rat) bis in das 16. No. 20, box 9; call No. M, inv. No. 21, box 9). If the name is not known, searching is difficult. Files concerning Jewish inhabitants may sometimes be found in other parts of the fonds, too.

  20. Amtsgericht (District Court) of Český Krumlov

    The fonds includes materials of the population and inheritance court, and documents of the civil agenda (inheritance files, family law files), seizure of property (seizure of property files and files of court eviction), and the criminal agenda (petty thefts, illegal border crossing). There can be found files of people of Jewish origin in individual sections. The documents of the population and inheritance court in particular show the criminal nature of the Nazi law and justice.
