  2. Romuald Goralski letter to Sylvia Lawrence

    Letter: sent to Sylvia Lawrence (Sara Zylbersztejn) [donors’ mother] dated January 12, 1946, in Bialystok, Poland, by Romuald Goralczyk, a former neighbor of the Zylbersztejn family in Bialystok. In his letter Mr. Goralczyk described the war years and notified Mrs. Lawrence that her mother Fruma was shot and killed in her house courtyard and that her father Dawid was deported to the Treblinka death camp.

  3. Tela Zasloff research collection related to Pastor Pierre-Charles Toureille

    Consists of notes, photocopies, photographs, interview transcripts, book excerpts, and other research material created and collected by Tela Zasloff for the preparation of her book, "A Rescuer's Story: Pastor Pierre-Charles Toureille in Vichy France." Includes correspondence and interviews with those who knew Toureille; copies of documents from the World Council of Churches in Geneva; photographs of the places he lived and worked; copies of his articles and sermons; minutes of the Committee of Nimes; and correspondence regarding his recognition as Righteous Among the Nations.

  4. Frances Cutler Hahn collection

    Consists of digital images of documents and photographs related to Frances Cutler Hahn, who was born Fanny Lindenberg Kahan in Paris, France, in 1938. Includes photographs of her parents, Schlomo Zalman Kahane and Cyla Lindenberg, letters to their family in Poland, photographs of Fanny in wartime childrens' homes and post-war orphanages, and documents related to her immigration to the United States with the assistance of HIAS.

  5. Marta Kaufmann collection

    The Marta Kaufmann collection consists of a photograph of the Szerencs synagogue in northern Hungary, her mother's hometown. The collection also contains a photograph of Alexander Gellman, Marta Kaufmann’s father, who worked as dentist in Hungary, with a group of survivors of the Sárospatak forced labor camp at a meeting after the war.

    Collection of documents, correspondence, identification papers, and passports relating to Tamara Manela and Isaac Sherman and their experiences before, during, and after the Holocaust. Includes Latvian passports, other travel documentation relating to their immigration to the United States via Germany, Italy, and Cuba, and English translations of Izak Sermanis' (Isaac Sherman) divorce papers from his first wife in Latvia, 1938, as well as a letter relating to a restitution claim filed by Mrs. Sherman in 1968.

    Contains correspondence from Else and Hermann Jacoby in Küstrin and Berlin in Germany to their only son, Heinz (later Yakov) Jacoby in Palestine. Also includes family photographs and documents related to Yakov's experiences before and during World War II. In 1939 Hermann Jacoby (b. February 26, 1855) was transferred to Berlin and placed in the Old Age Home at Grosse Hamburgerstrasse 26.
