  4. Sándor Grünfeld postcard

    Photocopies of a postcard from Sándor Grünfeld to Lipót Grünfeld in the Nagyvárad ghetto (now Oradea, Romania). The postcard coincided with the beginning of deportations from the ghetto to Auschwitz. The postcard was returned as undeliverable with a stamp indicating that the Jewish addressee had been relocated and the postcard could not be forwarded.

    The papers consist of eight photographs of Izak Lewkowicz and others (some wearing Star of David armbands or badges), two identification cards issued to Izak Lewkowicz in the ghetto in Łódź, Poland, and a "D.P. Index Card" issued by the Allied Expeditionary Force to Izak Lewkowicz.

The proceedings contain information about medical experiments conducted on concentration camp prisoners; euthanasia programs carried out on the mentally ill and others; and killing of camp inmates for the express purpose of collecting skeletons for medical research.   15. Josef and Nesia Zalcman family papers

    Testimony (photocopied), of Yiddish text, presumably by Josef Zalcman (Joseph Zaltzman), along with photocopies of family photos and post-war DP identification cards for Josef and Nesia Zalcman. Text has partial translation from volunteer, and appears to deal with Zalcman's experiences in a town in Eastern Poland initially occupied by Soviets from 1939-1941, and then by Germans thereafter.
