  1. UFA studio in Babelsberg

    A film about the creation of the new, modern UFA studios in Babelsberg. Views of the old Babelsberg Studio followed by a scene from Die Suenden der Vaeter, which was filmed in the old studio. In the clip, piano music plays while a woman, looking upset, lights a lamp and pours herself a drink from a glass bottle. Views of the old studio are replaced on the screen by the new buildings. Construction activity on film sets. Actors, some of them dressed in costumes, walk among the studio buildings at lunchtime.

  2. Bayard L. Cabe papers

    The Bayard L. Cabe papers consists of a letter written by Bayard L. Cabe, a member of the 6th Armored Division, on 23 April 1945, regarding the liberation of Buchenwald. In the letter, he describes the tour he took with English-speaking former prisoners and summarizes their experiences. The letter is missing the final page(s). The papers also include photocopies of military records and photographs from his service.

  7. Major John F. Maloney photographs

    Consists of 12 photographs taken after the liberation of the Buchenwald concentration camp, including photographs of corpses, survivors, and architecture. "Not for publication: JJ Carroll 1st Lt. CMP" is handwritten on the verso of each photograph. The photographs are from the collection of Maj. John F. Maloney, US Army (Ret.), who was a staff officer for General Patton.

Topics include restitution, commemoration of Holocaust victims, elections to the Board of the Jewish Community, burial permissions, maintenance of the Jewish cemetery, and disposal of the community’s property. There are also financial records, minutes of Board meetings, and a list of community members.

    Heinrich Himmler reviews Mohammaden (Muslim) SS volunteers. These are most likely members of the 13th Waffen SS Handzar Division. The recruits wear fez hats and carry rifles over their shoulders. Himmler is accompanied by a man wearing dark glasses, possibly Karl-Gustav Sauberzweig, the German commander of the 13th Division. The men, now wearing helmets, perform a shooting exercise for Himmler. Himmler departs in an open car.
