  1. William Asadorian collection

    The collection consists of Nazi propaganda leaflets produced during World War II and postwar American propaganda documents and newspapers.

  2. The Bartered Bride "Prodaná Nevěsta,"

    Consists of one pre-war operatic score, published in Czech in 1927, of "Prodaná Nevěsta," [The Bartered Bride] by Bedřich Smetana. The score was used by Alexander (Max) Singer during a production of the opera in the Theresienstadt (Terezin) ghetto and includes handwritten annotations by Raphael Schächter. The score was rebound after the war.

  3. Kurt Moser diary

    The Kurt Moser diary documents Moser’s experiences at the Château de la Hille in France (Ariège) and details his planning for escape to Spain and Portugal. The diary describes life at the castle, his attempts to escape to Switzerland, his capture and brief imprisonment, his work on a farm, efforts to find a guide to Portugal, his preparations for escape including obtaining travel documents, and his fears about deportation to Poland. It is believed that the last entry in the diary was made by Kurt’s friend Walter Kaniuk.

    Consists of 33 photographs from the collection of Col. John Christopher Bechtler. Includes photographs taken upon the liberation of the Buchenwald concentration camp as well as photographs taken from a German soldier and photographs described as taken in the Eastern front. The photographs taken from a German soldier includes photographs of the hanging of men wearing signs accusing them of anti-German partisan activities.

  10. Simon Ruder photographs

    Consists of seven post-war photographs from the collection of Simon Ruder, originally of Obertyn, Poland. Mr. Ruder was deported to Loncki prison in 1941, where he spent two years sewing Nazi uniforms before being sent to Auschwitz, Dachau, and then the Mühldorf subcamp, from which he was liberated in 1945. The photographs, taken at an unknown displaced persons camp, depict Mr. Ruder, his brother Mendel, and other newly released prisoners. Includes a photograph of what appears to be a remembrance ceremony, and a group picture in which some of the men appear to be wearing prisoner uniforms.

  11. "My Yellow Star"

    Consists of one memoir, written by Dov Gury (Bernard Gurovici), originally of Paris, entitled "My Yellow Star." This collection consists of two copies of the memoir, one in French and one in Hebrew. In the memoir, Mr. Gury describes his Holocaust experiences in Paris, his experiences crossing the demarcation line and the frontier to Switzerland, and his post-war immigration to Israel.

    Contains documents and photographs concerning Theodor and Hilde Gernsheimer and their sons, Fritz and Hans, and their immigration to the United States from Mannheim, Germany, after Kristallnacht.

  16. Rudolf and Helga Hauptmann Bettsack collection

    Consists of documents related to the Holocaust experiences of Rudolf and Helga Hauptmann Bettsack (later changed to Bessac). Includes the Bettsack family Stammbuch, paperwork identifying them as stateless displaced persons, documents (with photos) in lieu of passports, and travel information for their immigration from Shanghai to the United States in 1947. Also includes paperwork for restitution claims and receipts for restitution claims for Helga Bessac.

    Wedding dress with green, thread embroidery worn by Raya Kirschner (later Feig), 19, for her May 27, 1948, wedding to Micky Feig, 22, in Barletta displaced persons camp in Italy. In August 1941, after Germany invaded Lithuania, Raya was interned with her father Meyer, a rabbi, her mother, who ran an orphanage, and her brother Beno in the Kovno ghetto. In October 1942, her father was selected for deportation to Riga, Latvia,and Raya's mother insisted the family go also.     Consists of one memoir, entitled "Journey to Survival," by Ninetta Matsa Feldman, originally of Arta, Greece. In the memoir, she recalls watching her father leave briefly for the Greek Army; and wartime life in Agrinio, Greece. In the fall of 1943, her family went into hiding in the small mountain town of Psilovrahos, where they remained for a year, at one point hiding in a cave from a German raid. After the war ended in Greece and the family returned to Agrinio, they learned that the Jews of Ioannina were deported on March 25, 1944, and that only a handful of their family living in Greece ...
