  1. Donald A. Perera collection

    Collection of two Red Cross letters written between Olga Pincherle (donor's paternal aunt) and her brother and his wife, Lionello and Carolyn Perera, in New York City; dated 1942; sent between New York, NY and Gorizia, Italy.

  2. Stephen Fisher collection

    Consists of two stereographic prints depicting the persecution of the Jews during World War II. One image depicts Polish Jews being forced to labor with a large cart, while the other image shows the burning of Jewish beds in the town square in Myślenice, Poland. The photographer is listed as Heinrich Hoffmann, and the photographs were mass produced and published by Raumbild-Verlag-Otto Schönstein.

  3. Prentice G. Morgan collection

    Consists of two pages from a photograph album owned by Prentice G. Morgan, a member of Patton's Third Army. Morgan participated in the liberation of Buchenwald, and the photograph album pages include eleven photographs of the liberation and his commentary about what he witnessed in the camp. The photographs depict American military personnel in the camp, camp buildings, summary justice, military personnel viewing anatomical artifacts belonging to Ilse Koch, and the burial of victims.

    Contains a registry book, "Koncentračný Tábor Sered," of arriving Jewish deportees at the Sered camp consisting of daily, handwritten entries for the period of November 11, 1944 to March 29, 1945. Arriving inmates are registered in the order of arrival on each day.     Consists of a certificate stating that the Soep family were nationalized citizens of El Salvador. The document was stamped and signed by George Mantello on February 6, 1944 in Geneva, Switzerland.

    Contains a single document dated on August 25, 1941. Its content relates to confirmation of delivery of the Jewish workers by the Judenrat to Łachwa authorities.

  8. Unused bookplate with a Star of David rose tree belonging to a Dutch Jewish pharmacist

    Bookplate made for Ephraim Izaak Levie (Eil) Rosenbaum, a pharmacist in Amsterdam, Netherlands, in the 1930s. Germany occupied the Netherlands in May 1940 and, by 1942, deportations of Jews to concentration camps were frequent. In March 1943, Eil decided that his family needed to go into hiding. He sent his wife, Johanna, and son, Max, to Neede and his two year old daughter, Betty, to live with a Protestant family, Berthe and Jan Hageman, in Eibergen.   9. "Of Ships and Men: From Toledo to Leghorn and then to Tunis"

    Consists of one manuscript, 104 pages, entitled "Of Ships and Men: From Toledo to Leghorn and then to Tunis," with a copy in French, by Giacomo Nunez, originally of Tunis. In the manuscript, Mr. Nunez describes the history of the Jewish community in Italy, Spain, and Tunis throughout history, focusing specifically on the experiences of the Nunez family. He also describes his own childhood in Tunis and memories of World War II as a Jewish boy in North Africa, including his memories of bombings and forced labor.

  10. Charles A. Vogenberger photograph collection

    Collection of photographs documenting the Nordhausen concentration camp after liberation, including images of the burial of former prisoners in a mass grave; dated April 1945; some captioned on verso in English. The photographs were taken by Sgt. Charles A. Vogenberger (donor’s father), who served with the U.S. Army as a member of the 273rd Ordnance Company attached to the 1st Infantry Division.

    Consists of photographs and documents related to Martha Holzmann Braun, originally of Vienna, Austria. Includes pre-war family photographs; birth, marriage and divorce certificates; post-war naturalization and identity documents; a Reisepass for Martha's sister, Erna Holzmann Steckerl; and photographs of Erna with her husband, Alex. Also includes a prayer book presented to Erna Holzmann in 1921.

  13. Hana Engel photograph collection

    Consists of two photographs: one a prewar image of Ania Szymkiewicz Engel (donor) and her mother, Regina, walking in the street in Łódź, Poland; the second an image of Hana Engel in Tel Aviv, dated 1948. Ania attended Abba Gymnasium before the war and the ghetto high school. In August 1944, she and her mother were deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau, where Regina was murdered. Hana was liberated in May 1945 in Theresienstadt and in 1946 she arrived in Palestine where she was reunited with her father.

  14. Georges Zeraia Ayache collection

    Consists of a folder of copies of webpages, a copyprint, and a letter describing the life and Holocaust experiences of Georges Zeraia Ayache, originally of Algiers. In April 1944, Mr. Ayache was picked up in Paris and deported to Drancy, and then in May, deported to Kovno, where he was interned in the Ninth Fort. Mr. Ayache perished in the Holocaust. Includes a copyprint of Mr. Ayache and photocopies of webpages annotated with additional information.

  15. Frieda Loewy collection

    Scrapbook: created by Frieda Bedriska Loewy (donor's aunt) in the Theresienstadt concentration camp in the Czech Republic during her internment. Scrapbook begins with the date December 22, 1942 and concludes with documentation and drawings indicating Frieda's movement before war's end to Sweden.
