Acquisition

The collection was donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 2022 by Andrea Pollinger, daughter of Ruth (Wermuth) Pollinger.

Scope and Content

The collection consists of Ruth Pollinger's (nee Wermuth) triangle birth pendant, family photographs, and an oral history the donor conducted with her grandmother Hilde Islovitz (née Blumenthal; formerly Wermuth from her first marriage).

Triangular metal birth pendant belonging to the donor's mother Ruth Polilnger (nee Wermuth, 1929-1970), that sailed with her from Frankfurt, Germany to New York in 1940. It is engraved with her date of birth, place of birth (Frankfurt A.M)., and "Mazel Tov". These birth pendants were traditionally given to newborn girls in Frankfurt, Germany between 1928 and 1929.
