Acquisition

The collection was donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 2018 by Agnes Rothkopf and Holly Rothkopf.

Scope and Content

Consists of correspondence, photographs, prayer book with inlaid cover, buckle, compact and 2 figures pertaining to the experiences of Clarisa (née Drechsler) Kramer, formerly of Trnava, Czechoslovakia and later of the United States. Clarisa immigrated to the United States in 1939 and remained in touch with her parents, Isidore and Anna, and siblings Andor, Bela, and Rose who remained in Europe throughout the Holocaust.

Correspondence, photographs, and immigration papers documenting the Holocaust-era experiences of the Drechsler family of Trnava (present day Slovakia). The bulk of the collection consists of wartime letters sent to Clara Drechsler (later Clara Kramer) in the United States from her parents Isidor and Anna Drechsler and siblings Andor, Rose, and Bela in Trnava and elsewhere in Europe. Also included is a small amount of immigration paperwork, recipes, and prewar family photographs.
