Documentation of the Reich Food Producers Organization (Reichsnaehrstand) and of the leader of the Reich Farmers, Germany, 1933-1945 Reich Food Producers Organization was the umbrella organization of the farmers and vendors of agricultural produce in Germany, established after the rise of the Nazis to power, 1933, and united within it a number of umbrella organizations that preceded it. The organization had a hierarchical structure and was headed by Richard Walther Darre, who received the title of Reich Farmers' Leader (Reichsbauernfuehrer). Under Darre's leadership, the organization was the tool for implementing Nazi policy in the field of agriculture, influenced by the nationalist-romantic ideology of Blood and Earth (Blut und Boden), that saw in the farmer and his ties to the land a primary source of the German nationalist spirit. Darre's individualistic world view caused disputes with the Nazi leadership, including Hitler himself, and Darre was ousted from his position, 1942. The Collection: The majority of the documents relate to Nazi ideology within the Reich and in the occupied territories, in the field of agriculture and in the area of agricultural imports.
