History

The archives of the Nederlands Muziek Insituut are currently being managed by the Haags gemeentearchief (the Hague municipal archives).

Archival and Other Holdings

The collection Nederlands Muziek Instituut currently consists of over 600 archives of Dutch composers, performing musicians and music institutions. It contains more than 75,000 manuscripts mainly of Dutch composers, more than 200,000 letters, thousands of pictures, all kinds of personal documents (diplomas, certificates, diaries, etc.) and audio and video material. Actually this collection is the "memory" of composing and making music Netherlands.

Finding Aids, Guides, and Publication

It is possible to search the records of the Haags gemeentearchief in the catalogue of the collections. The searchable collections include, among others, the image library, the library of the Haags gemeentearchief, municipal archives. The search engine can be found here.

Opening Times

The Haags Gemeentearchief (the Hague municipal archives) has two reading rooms. The reading room on the ground floor is open from Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm. The second reading room is open from Tuesday to Thursday from 9am to 4pm.

Conditions of Access

It is required to maken an appointment before the archives can be accessed.

Accessibility

From The Hague central station it is a ten minute walk and from The Hague Holland Spoor it is a 15 minute walk to the Haags Gemeentearchief It is possible to park in the underground parking garage of the city hall or in the parking garage in de tram tunnel under the Grote Markstraat.
