    This material relates to the growing opposition to the Nazi-supported German Christian Movement by members of the German Evangelical community. In particular, the newly formed Confessing Church (Bekennende Kirche) rejected the authority of the National Synod which was presided over by Nazis and demanded allegiance to Adolf Hitler.
