  1. Kristallnacht: List of synagogues destroyed and eyewitness testimonies

    985/1 consists of responses, most of which are dated November/ December 1939. In addition, there is a list of respondents. The project's results comprised a set of statistics on the fate of Germany's synagogues (985/2). The fate of the synagogues was still a subject of interest in 1959 as evidenced by a copy of a letter on the subject from C. C. Aronsfeld (985/3). 985/2 also contains a list dated 1960.

  2. Edgar Duchin: working papers re refugees from Nazi Europe

    This collection of papers relating to the fate of refugees from Nazi Europe was part of the working papers of Edgar Duchin (formerly Duchinsky), a solicitor who worked on behalf of refugees. A number of organisations dealing with the problems of refugees are represented. The papers at -/5 which document his activities viz representing the interests of individual refugees and his presence on a number of committees involved in similar work are testament to his commitment to the cause of refugees.

  4. Jewish Relief Unit: personnel files

    This collection consists of the personnel files of former members of the Jewish Relief Unit. This organization, which was based in Great Britain, provided support and assistance of all kinds to Jewish Displaced Persons in the aftermath of the war in Germany. Of particular interest are reports of conditions at individual camps.

  5. Lichtenstein and Rothschild Families Collection

    The material in this collection allows insights into life and persecution of members of two Jewish families from Austria and Germany. While the rather administrational documents refer primarily to the Lichtenstein family, the included photographs depict members and social life of the Rothschild family.

  13. Jewish Chronicle library collection: Defence file

    The collection consists of materials from the Jewish Chronicle’s library that deal with the defence against antisemitism. These include reports on antisemitic groups, individuals and incidents, as well as on the bodies that fought against them. There are letters to the Jewish Chronicle on defence, both from anti-fascist groups reporting occurrences of antisemitism, and from representatives of the far-right denying charges of anti-Jewish prejudice or exhibiting their antisemitism through hate mail.   14. Hans Globke: deposition concerning Jewish name changes in the Third Reich

    This is an original signed statement by Hans Globke, formerly chief adviser to Konrad Adenauer and earlier, official commentator on the Nuremberg Racial Laws. The statement deals with the provision of names denoting the Jewish origins of German citizens. The document is typescript with corrections apparently initialled, signed and dated by Globke.

    The documents in this collection offer an insight into the day to day lives of the inmates of the Kitchener Camp for refugees near Sandwich at Richborough, Kent in 1939. This collection comprises 4 separate deposits.   20. Neuengamme trials: Papers of J. C. Giffin

    The collection primarily consists of handwritten notes, presumably by Giffin, on the trials.
