    A diplomatic service passport issued by the Republic of Liberia, represented by Baron O. de Bogaerde, Minister Plenipotentiary, to Matus and Chaja Kugel-Rubin, granting them diplomatic immunity and allowing them to travel to Spain and Portugal. The passport also contains wartime visa for Italy and Monaco.

    This collection consists of a photo of and an interview with Jacques Schop. In his testimony Jacques talks about his childhood in the ghetto of Krakow, his father's clothing business in the ghetto, his life in hiding with the catholic Polish family outside of Krakow where Jacques stayed for several months, how his ‘rescuers’ tried to get rid of Jacques once the payments seized, Jacques’ reunion with his parents in the Krakow ghetto, their flight to Budapest in Hungary with the help of smugglers, their life in Budapest and Jacques’ post-war life in Israel, Canada and Belgium.

    This collection contains : two forged IDs of Berthe (Elisabeth) Van der Horst, issued under her fake name Berthe Humbert ; three statements signed by fellow resistance fighters regarding the activities of Emmanuel Boekman as a forger and a member of the civil resistance ; the official deed recognizing Emmanuel Boekman as a civil resistance fighter in 1951 ; a statement by the municipality of Nijlen, confirming that Henri Alexander Boekman did wear the yellow star.

    This collection consists of an interview with Jeanne Glibert. In her testimony Jeanne talks about her youth, the beginning of the war as she fled with friends, living under occupation in Antwerp, traitors who snitched on Jews, Jewish youth friends Betti Van Hamberg, Claudine Van Hamberg and Irène Brandes, and about Jewish links after the war.

    This collection contains 34 photos, including : the Spinat children relaxing on the balcony of the family home in Antwerp, the Spinat children playing in the snow and with a dog, the Spinat children posing in the garden of their home in Antwerp, Doris (Dodi) Spinat dressed for a wedding, scenes depicting life at the La-Bas children's home in Aische-en-Refail led by the Association of Jews in Belgium, and a daughter of the Goffinet family which hid Doris Spinat in Péruwelz during the last weeks of the war.

  17. Relieken - Reliques. Collection

    The “Relics” collection comprises 3,065 envelopes. Each contains personal documents confiscated by the Aufnahme (camp administration) at the SS-Sammellager Mecheln (Dossin barracks) upon arrival of a detainee at the barracks. The documents range from photographs to letters, ID cards, university diplomas, marriage certificates, etc. Each envelope refers to a single detainee or a family. Most of these detainees were eventually deported via Transport XX to XXVI. No “Relics” exist for deportees from Transports I to XIX.
