Abstract
Videotape testimony of Susana A., who was born in Warsaw, Poland in 1930. She tells of emigrating to Paris with her parents when she was six months old; the births of three brothers; cordial relations with non-Jews; her father's enlistment when war began; his discharge; his arrest in 1940 (they never saw him again); leaving school to help at home after her fourth brother's birth; occasional letters from her father; her mother bringing the children to an agency when she could no longer feed them; their return home in June 1942; her mother bringing them to a Catholic organization; living in a convent; the nuns bringing the Jewish children to Sarthe; receiving false papers; working as a domestic for two years while keeping her youngest brother with her; liberation by United States troops; and reunion with her brothers and mother. Mrs. A. describes living in an orphanage with her brothers for another year; returning to her mother in Paris; their emigration to Bolivia in 1947; marriage; and the births of her children.
