Renee G. Holocaust testimony

A follow-up, directed videotape testimony of Renee G., whose first testimony was recorded in 1980. Mrs. G. notes her previous testimony was the first time she opened up about her experiences; now wanting to tell everything rather than censor herself because time is running out; memories returning as she writes her memoir; her younger brother's fury when she was hidden; dreaming of specific incidents; and her memories differing from her older cousin (he hid with them). She recounts specific childhood memories which are very sensory; not being told much after ghettoization; now needing open spaces, resulting from sixteen months of hiding underground in a confined, crowded space; her sense she is younger now than when she was liberated; speaking of her experience in the third person right after liberation; current dreams of being lost; a 1980 visit to Poland which allowed her to "go on" with her life; the importance to her of being part of a Jewish community after liberation; constant fear due to antisemitic violence; murder of a Pole who helped them in hiding; moving to ?o?dz? for protection; wanting to spare her children from her fear; and her awe that she actually lived through her experiences.
