Daniel L. Holocaust testimony

Videotape testimony of Daniel L., who was born in Kaunas, Lithuania in approximately 1921. He recalls graduating from private school in 1937; Soviet occupation; working for a textile company; German invasion in 1941; ghettoization; daily forced labor; a beating by German soldiers from which he still bears a scar; transfer with his father at the end of 1943 to Stutthof, then two weeks later to a labor camp; slave labor digging ditches; his deteriorating physical condition; losing his will to live; his father saving him several times; transfer in April 1945 to Dachau, then Allach; liberation by United States troops; living with his father in Munich; learning his mother had survived; their reunion in December; employment searching for Nazi party members; believing many lied; emigrating with his parents to join relatives in the United States in 1949; and his marriage to an American woman. Mr. L. notes nightmares resulting from his experiences; and not sharing many memories with his daughter.
