Biographical History

Beyond what is written in this letter, not much is known of Gerszmon Ronie. All that is known is that Ronie was living in the Windsheim displaced persons (DP) camp in Germany in 1947. The Windsheim DP camp was one of the most overcrowded camps in the area. In 1946, it frequently had 3,200 inhabitants, despite having capacity for only 2,500.

Scope and Content

A letter written by Gerszmon Ronie, an inmate of the camp N1041 in Windsheim, in the American occupation zone in Germany. It is addressed to Mr. Trygvie Lie, Secretary General of the United Nations, and requests that Ronie be taken from Windsheim camp and be allowed to live in Palestine.
