The medal was donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 2001 by Lucian W. Kempner, Lorraine H. Kempner, Hans Kempner, and Therese Kempner, the son, the daughter-in-law, and grandchildren of Robert M. W. Kempner.
