a. Small pencil portrait on paper attached to a gray paper backing (b). The image depicts a woman and man sitting behind a table in a large room with sharply angled rafters. The woman on left in a large collared jacket stares forward with dark, curly hair. The man on right in a large jacket sits in three quarters left profile leaning his right arm on the table. He has a receding hairline and a straight pipe pressed between his lips. There is a lamp with a large rectangular lampshade and a long shelf with objects on top and inside on the left wall, a window above a long shelf on the rear wall, and a large shaded window on the right wall. The date is at the bottom.
