Acquisition

Source of acquisition is the Fundación IWO. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum received the collection in December 2022.

Scope and Content

The collection includes foundational materials, records, photographs of institutional activity, committees, campaigns, complaints, archives of the United Restitution Office, assemblies and public activities, files, work folders, and surveys on anti-Semitism in the form of reports and newspaper clippings. It covers action against Nazism from 1935, as well as different expressions of anti-Semitism in Argentina in the 1960s and 1970s, the military dictatorship, the attack on the Israeli embassy, the AMIA attack, and new expressions of anti-Semitism. Over time, DAIA became the political representation of the Argentine Jewish community. It brings together 140 cultural, religious, and secular, sports, philanthropic, educational, economic, religious, feminist, and diversity institutions. Its mission is to fight against anti-Semitism, discrimination, racism, and xenophobia, denounce terrorism, coordinate security for the institutions of the Jewish community, preserve human rights, and promote interreligious dialogue and coexistence in a framework of respect for differences.

System of Arrangement

The collection is arranged in file order.
