Biographical History

Susan Gasson (1926-2015) was born Susan Elefant on 20 December 1926 in Sighet (Sighetu Marmației, Romania) to Josef Eugen and Frida Szok. In May 1944 she was deported to Auschwitz II-Birkenau. She was transferred in October 1944 as a forced-laborer to work camps in Nuremberg and Mehltheuer.

The collection was donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum by Sam and Susan Gasson in 2005.

The collection consists of four photographs showing images from a Polish labor camp and the DP camp in Salzburg, Austria.
