Elen Steinberg donated the Chernomorsky-Liverant Family Story to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 2020.

Scope and Content

The Chernomorsky-Liverant Family Story is a digital manuscript documenting the murder of Pearl (Polina) (1896-1941) and Leib (Lev) Chernomorsky (1889-1941) in Lubar, Ukraine in September 1941; Luz Liverant's death in the defense of Moscow in 1942; and Bronya's perilous escape towards Yangeuil, near Uzbekistan, with her daughters Maya (b. 1936) and Anna (Anya, b. 1939). Bronya and her daughters followed the army back towards Ukraine, where she helped bring to justice the collaborator who denounced her father. The digital manuscript includes a brief family tree and five digital images including two death certificates and three photographs.
