Scope and Content
On May 17, 1942 at 3:15PM, the I’m An American Day radio broadcast begins with Fred Waring and His Glee Club singing "This is My Country" and "Marines Hymn." New York City Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia addresses the crowd in New York City's Central Park. He refers to the misleadings of Hitler and Mussolini. The mayor vows to help liberate and free those people. Lead Soloist, Giovanni Martinelli, sings "May Morning."
