United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Collection, Gift of Robert Steinfink

Donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 2017 by Robert Steinfink, son of Jecheskiel and Gertrude Steinfink.

Scope and Content

Contains a passport, documents, photographs and correspondence related to the experiences of Jecheskiel Steinfink and Gertrude Rottholz Steinfink (donor's parents) who fled Nazi-occupied Vienna, Austria. Included is letter from Gertrude or "Trude" in Vienna to Jecheskiel or "Ossy" in London, where he first fled before continuing on to the United States in 1940. Trude, still in Vienna in 1939, managed to immigrate to the United States shortly thereafter, reuniting with Ossy, whom she married in the United States.
