The dagger and sheath were donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 1992 by Burt Sherman.

The dagger and sheath were found by Bert Sherman in a German jeep, March 1944, Devonshire, England.

Physical Characteristics and Technical Requirements
(a) dagger: steel blade 1-9/16" wide, bold engraving on one side. Steel hilt with wooden handle [1-1/2" wide], large steel rivet at top of handle; small steel German National Insignia embedded to center of handle; circular "SS" enameled emblem at top of handle, inset into wood of handle. (b) blade cover; lacquered or painted blade with rounded steel tip, rivets at side, wrapped with leather strap.
On blade, verso, bold lettering in German, old style script "Meine Ehre Heist Treue" [My honor your life]; on blade, face side, small lettering near hilt "[SS insignia] 120/34"
