Scope and Content
Set of prayerbooks hidden from the Nazi during World War II. Originally owned by Elsa Stern. Acquired by the Schaumberg family, Kircheim, Germany. [Relationship between Elsa Stern and the Schaumbergs is not known.] Sent to Mr. and Mrs. Schaumberg (donor's parents), circa 1936, Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Hidden in attic of the Schaumberg home, 1943, Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Recovered by Schaumbergs after WWII and brought with them to the United States.
