Acquisition
Forms part of the Claims Conference International Holocaust Documentation Archive at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. This archive consists of documentation whose reproduction and/or acquisition was made possible with funding from the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany.
Source of acquisition is the Archiwum Państwowe w Kielcach (State Archive in Kielce), Poland, Sygn. 1657. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received the digitized collection via the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum International Archival Programs Division in March 2017. This is a cooperative project based on the agreement between USHMM and Yad Vashem, Israel.
Scope and Content
Minutes of sessions of the town authorities, books of registers of permanent residents of Jędrzejów, documents related to tax and budget matters, and documentation of the occupation authorities of 1939-1945. The prevailing part of the collection includes materials of the construction department relating to construction or reconstruction licenses of estates, blue prints and designs of buildings, etc. Numerous documents refer to the Jewish inhabitants of Jędrzejów and provide details of daily life of the Jewish minority in the town during the interwar and wartime period. In 1939, Jędrzejów was inhabited by 4,475 Jews which constituted 32 % of the town population.

Arranged in twelve series: 1. Books of population of the city Jędrzejów, Vol. 1-7, 1886-1943 (in Polish and Russian); 2. Minutes, correspondence, various statistics, and other documents of the city Jędrzejów, 1915-1939; 3. The register of inhabitants of Jędrzejów, 1932-1940 (organized by a name of streets); 4. Books of traffic control of the population, 1932-1949; 5. Plans of houses, and inventories of real estate plans, 1924-1939; 6. Orders and writings of the occupying authorities, reports of the inspection of the city administration, 1942 (transfer of Jews to the ghetto, transfer of Jewish property to the city administration, maintenance of houses, etc.) [in German and Polish]; 7. Budget documents and annual accounting reports of the city of Jędrzejów, 1939-1945 [in German]; 8. Records of tenants in Jewish homes since June 1, 1940 (files 1940-1941); 9. Documents concerning daily life of the Jewish population, 1939-1944; 10. Minutes of meetings and books of resolutions of the Municipal Council of Nations, 1947-1949; 11. City plan of Jędrzejów, 1947, and renovations projects; 12. The book of traffic control of the population (registers of people coming to the municipality after WWII), 1948-1950.
