LIB 6703 Camp Dora Nordhausen, Germany May 16, 1945 A car driving through a lot, airplane hangar in BG. VS, Congressman Everett Dirksen of Illinois and Commander John S Young step out of a car and board a small plane. They disembark and greet two US officers. The officers then bring them on a tour of prison camp Dora. They stand outside a building with a sign that reads, “HEADQUARTERS CAMP DORA.” The visitors question a former prisoner. VS, Congressman Dirksen and Commander Young visit various locations on the grounds, including an underground factory where V-1 and V-2s were manufactured. LIB 6629 Opening of Victory Railroad Bridge Duisburg, Germany May 12, 1945 LS, soldiers massed at bridge site during ceremony. Mss, LSs, railroad trains loaded with soldiers cross newly constructed bridge. Three planes fly in formation overhead, while the military band plays in neat lines below. There is a large square of soldiers neatly arranged in columns next to the band. The three planes again. MS, group of general officers including Major General Leonard T Gerow, Maj Gen Cecil R Moore, Brigadier Gen Clarence L Burpee, Brig Gen Ewart G Plank, and Brig Gen Carl R Gray. Written on a slight hill are the words, “VICTORY BRIDGE.” A ceremonial stage is set up just above. VS, officers delivering speeches on the stage. HLSs, soldiers of the 332nd Engineer Regiment, ASCZ, receiving decorations.
