Biographical History
The Katz Ehrenthal Collection is a collection of more than 900 objects depicting Jews and antisemitic and anti-Jewish propaganda from the medieval to the modern era, in Europe, Russia, and the United States. The collection was amassed by Peter Ehrenthal, a Romanian Holocaust survivor, to document the pervasive history of anti-Jewish hatred in Western art, politics and popular culture. It includes crude folk art as well as pieces created by Europe's finest craftsmen, prints and periodical illustrations, posters, paintings, decorative art, and toys and everyday household items decorated with depictions of stereotypical Jewish figures.

Physical Characteristics and Technical Requirements
Handcolored etching on paper depicting a man standing in left facing profile with his left leg forward, his left hand behind his back, and his right hand gripping a knobby, wooden walking stick in front of him. He has short, curly gray hair, large ears, and a fleshy face with stereotypical Jewish features: hooded eyes, a large, hooked nose, and a fleshy lower lip. He wears a low, black top hat and a light gray tailcoat buttoned over a high-collared, white shirt and neck cloth. His gray breeches are fastened just above tall black boots with brown cuffs and metal spurs. He casts a shadow on the gray ground beneath him, the artist’s signature printed to the right. The title and a line of publication information are printed below the image. The corners of the page have been cut off.
