Biographical History

Thomas Lugosi was born in Budapest, Hungary in 1935. He and his family moved to the Jewish quarter in Budapest when he was nine. Both his parents were intercepted. His father was captured by Russians and survived working as a cook. His mother survived Bergen Belsen. The Lugosi family eventually immigrated to the U.S. after the 1956 revolution in Hungary.

The collection was donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 2007 by Thomas Lugosi.
