United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Collection, Gift of Margot G. Heinemann

The collection was donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 2007 by Margot Graetz Heinemann.

Scope and Content

Contains photographs, documents and writings concerning the pre-war life of Margot Graetz in Hamburg, Germany. Includes photographs of Margot and schoolmates on field trips in Kellenhusen in 1933; at birthday parties; and participating in the Bar Kochba Jewish sports organization. Also includes documents issued to Margot, including a participation card in Macabee games in Berlin in 1936; a recommendation from a former employer; a type-written poem; and certificate of completion of hand work, or seamstress course, dated circa 1931-1937, prior to her 1937 immigration to the United States.
