Biographical History

Frieda Kufert (née Kranz) was born on January 6, 1909 in Berlin, Germany. She married and her daughter Lea Kufert was born on December 21, 1938. The family was sent to the Łódź ghetto, where Lea died. Her mother, Frieda Kufert either died in the Łódź ghetto in 1939 or Chełmno concentration camp in 1942.

Martha Craig donoated the Gershon Kufert papers to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 1996.

Photographic postcard of two women holding a baby. The two women are Frieda Kufert (née Kranz) and her mother. The baby is Frieda's daughter Lea Kufert. All perished in the Holocaust.
