The pencil was donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 2002 by Elizabeth Margosches the grandaughter of Helene Reik.

Scope and Content
The pencil was used by Helene Reik while she was in the ghetto in Terezín (Theresienstadt), Czechoslovakia (now Czech Republic) during the Holocaust.

Physical Characteristics and Technical Requirements
Hollow cylindrical two-piece body constructed of black plastic that tapers into metal point; engraved along side of body in white letters is text that reads "RIPET PRIVUS 901K"; black plastic cap that attaches to top of body; metal clip along side of body that is held in place by cap and engraved with text that reads "RIPET."
