Acquisition
Source of acquisition is the National Archives of the Kalmyk Republic (Nat︠s︡ionalʹnyĭ arkhiv Respubliki Kalmykii︠a︡), Russian Federation. Documents were presented to the US Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives by the Government of Kalmyk Republic during the Holocaust commemoration ceremony in Elista in September 2000. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received the photocopies via the United States Holocaust Museum International Archives Project in May 2004.
Scope and Content
Contains lists of Jews and others who perished on the territory of the Kalmyk Republic during the German occupation of July - December 1942; Commission statements with detailed information about how and where the crimes were committed; and reports about the exhumation of mass graves and the investigation by forensic experts.
