Biographical History

Edda Treforest (b. Edda Wind) was a Holocaust survivor and was employed as a translator for Ms. E.I. England, head of the British Red Cross contingent at Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. Her husband, Samuel Treforest was a United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation (UNRRA) official who took photographs of Bergen-Belsen concentraiton camp.

Edda Treforest donated the Edda Treforest photograph collection to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 1992.

The Edda Treforest photograph collection consists of photographs depicting nurses treating patients at Bergen-Belsen concentration camp after liberation, the canteen that Samuel Treforest opened at Bergen-Belsen after World War II, and Edda Treforest as a young woman.
