The letter was sent by Charlotte Hackett to her brother (donor's father) and was discovered by Ernest Grunebaum while going through his late father's papers. Ernest Grunebaum donated the material to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 1991 Written by Isle Dahl (former roommate of donor's aunt) to Charlotte Hackett (donor's aunt), May 1939, France.
Scope and Content
The mimeographed copy of a letter was written by Ilse Dahl (former roommate of donor's aunt) in France to Charlotte Hackett (donor's aunt) in England and describes the journey of the ship, "Flandre," to Cuba. It is entitled, "Die Cuba-Reise der 'Flandre,' am 16. Mai 1939."
