Sol Rubinstein donated this collection to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives in Dec. 2001. The manuscripts, jointly donated by Sol Rubinstein and his cousin, Doris Bernstein, were discovered in Jul. 2004. A deed of gift was sent to add them to the collection on Jul. 22, 2004.
Scope and Content
Contains correspondence addressed to and from Sol Rubinstein, Cleveland, OH, to family members of Łapy and Łódź, Poland, describing actions being taken against the Jewish populations. Other letters include those written by Sol Rubinstein addressed to a friend in Sokoli, Poland, as well as letters from family members in Haifa and from Nathan Zahavi about attempts to save his Aunt Fradl. Also contains two manuscripts, "Rubinstein-Stolarsky Family History, 1984" and "The Rescue of our Family Survivors." "The Rescue of our Family Survivors" includes translations of much of the family wartime correspondence and includes a narrative regarding their experiences.
