Various Gestapo offices created the original documents during World War II. The Nordrhein-Westfälisches Hauptstaatsarchiv obtained them in the years after the war. Severin Hochberg, of the Museum staff, acquired photocopies in 1992 and turned the photocopies over to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives in Aug. 1992.
