Acquisition
Original postcards were written by Heinz Prossnitz (mentioned in Ruth Bondy, "Elder of the Jews," pp. 429-431), in Oct. and Dec. of 1943 to the donor, who was incarcerated at Terezin. The donor made photocopies of the postcards and sent them to USHRIA in Jun. 1992. English translations also were provided by the donor.
Scope and Content
Photocopies of two postcards with, both sent by Heinz Prossnitz to Alice Winternitz. The first, dated 12 October 1943 relates to the arrival of the "Masaryk transport" in Auschwitz; the second, dated 31 December 1943, contains little substantive information, but it was censored by the Nazis at Terezin (Theresienstadt).
