Biographical History
Isaac Schlomkowitz was born into a Zionist family that immigrated to Palestine in 1922. The family returned to Łódź, Poland, in 1930. While in the ghetto, Schlomkowitz joined the Zionist Party. He was transported to Auschwitz concentration camp in 1944 and was later moved to Dachau concentration camp where he was liberated in 1945. After liberation he was involved in an illegal emigration movement to Palestine. He immigrated to the United States in 1948.

Rubin Berger donated the poems and other materials to the Archives in Nov. 1990.
Scope and Content
Contains several poems by Isaac Schlomkowitz in Yiddish in addition to a small amount of English-language material. The poems have themes of remembrance, forgiveness, and one survivor's attitude toward Germany, Germans, and German unification.
