Biographical History

Regina Bochner Schweid (d. 1988) was born in Frysztak, Poland. She was the daughter of Samuel and Dina Bochner and was one of at least ten children in the family. She became engaged to Naftali Chaim Schweid in 1921, and they married after immigrating separately to the United States. The Bochner family moved from Frysztak to Beuthen in Upper Silesia (now Bytom, Poland) then to Oświęcim, Poland, and then to Katowice, Poland. Some members of the family were able to immigrate to Palestine or the Soviet Union, thus escaping the Holocaust; the fate of others left behind are unknown.
