Biographical History
Henry Cohen was born in 1922 to Jewish immigrants living in New York City. Henry received a Master's degree in city planning from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and then enlisted in the United States Army in 1944. After serving in the Army, he was appointed Director of the Föhrenwald displaced persons camp in Germany in January of 1946. Henry headed the camp until July 1946, at which point he returned to the United States to teach at the City College of New York.

The speech was donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum by Henry Cohen in 1995.
Scope and Content
A speech titled "Liberation and the Jewish Displaced Persons Centers in Germany" and given at Temple Israel, Great Neck, NY, on 28 April 1995 providing a historical account by former director of Foehrenwald DP camp.
