Acquisition
Sybil Milton donated the collection to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum between September 1993 and May 1994. The original documents reside at Yad Vashem, YIVO Institute for Jewish Research, the Central Archive for the History of the Jewish People (CAHJP), and the U.S. National Archives & Records Administration (NARA). The sole original pamphlet in the Collection was purchased by the donor at a bookstore in Germany and donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in November 1993.
Scope and Content
The collection consists of photocopies of archival records dealing with the immigration of Jews to the Philippine Islands or with the treatment of those within the Third Reich the Nazis deemed "non-Aryan." Also includes copies of documents pertaining to the mentally infirm and to the Red Army ambulance corps.
System of Arrangement
The collection is organized into seven series: RG-10.25601: Handbill soliciting monetary support for the Red Army Ambulance Corps (September 1941). RG-10.25602: United States Government correspondence regarding Jewish refugees in the Philippines (1938-1940). RG-10.25603: Photocopies of newspaper clippings regarding Jewish refugees in the Philippines (1939-1940). RG-10.25604: Photocopies of German official and private documents regarding German and Austrian Jewish refugees in the Philippines (1938-1957). RG-10.25605: Photocopy of a volume found by Allied forces at Hartheim Castle, Austria, on the treatment of the mentally infirm (1940-1941). RG-10.25606: Photocopies of official correspondence of the Deutscher Gemeindetag in Berlin with various provincial authorities regarding the treatment/accommodation of mulattos Negermischlingen (1936-1941). RG-10.256*07: Photocopies of Nazi correspondence and directives pertaining to various racial and occupation-related policies (1942-1943)
