Acquisition

United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Collection, Gift of John Tygier

John Tygier donated this collection to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum on Feb. 19, 2010. Mr. Tygier discovered the collection in his late mother's papers, as she was the daughter of the Lebensolds. Mr. Tygier's cousin, Peter Lebensold, assisted with the donation.

Scope and Content

The Manya and Abraham Lebensold collection consists of two CDs containing scanned images of documents and correspondence related to and written by Manya and Abraham Lebensold while imprisoned in the Warsaw ghetto. The bulk of the material is correspondence written by the Lebensolds between 1939 and 1942 to their children who were living in England.
