Scope and Content
Anti-Nazi handbill, text in German on one side and an image on the other, that warns all those who have supported Hitler and the Nazis that they will be brought to justice. The title, Wer ist dieser Mann? refers to the image which suggests a wanted poster and depicts a crowd of people with a man in a Nazi uniform circled in the center. The text is based upon a speech by Winston Churchill to the British House of Commons on September 8, 1942, that denounces the treatment of Jews as the Germans most bestial act and ends with a pledge to join the US in a postwar Nazi crimes tribunal: "When the hour of liberation strikes in Europe, as strike it will, it will also be the hour of retribution. ... the solemn words which were used lately by the President of the United States, namely, that those who are guilty of the Nazi crimes will have to stand up before tribunals in every land where their atrocities have been committed in order that an indelible warning may be given to future ages and that successive generations of men may say, "So perish all who do the like again."
