Albert A. Hutler was a lieutenant in the 7th U.S. Army during World War II. He was involved with the movement of various groups of displaced persons during and after the war. He also directed the displaced persons office in Mannheim,

Acquisition
The original letters were sent by the donor to his wife during the period April to Oct. 1945. Photocopies of letters, together with photocopies of a photo showing French DPs going home and a DP identification document (both of which were apparently attachments to letters), were donated to the Museum in 1992. ( Acc. 1992.A.0100 included).

Relates to U.S. Army's military government postwar management and care of displaced persons and their repatriation, particularly in the American Zone of occupied Germany.
