Note(s)

  • The WFDiF production entitled "Zydzi Polscy" ["The Polish Jews"] runs 97 minutes and contains film documents from the archive, added music and sound effects. USHMM catalogs the complete production under RG-60.3834, RG-60.3835, RG-60.3836, RG-60.3837, RG-60.3838, RG-60.3839, RG-60.3840, RG-60.3841, and RG-60.3842, on Film ID 2661. The Film and Video Archive has not successfully identified the location of this deportation footage, and the film may be comprised of scenes from several different train platforms or locations, and may have been filmed and/or produced by the Nazis. We also need confirmation that this shows deportation of "Poles" other than Polish Jews. According to Raye Farr on 11/14/00: It is possible these Jewish people are from the Warsaw ghetto, but what we see in the footage is not within the physical area of the Warsaw ghetto. Also, at this time in the Umschlagplatz, the assembly point in Warsaw from which people selected for deportation were then dispatched to the trains, there were cobblestones on the ground and trees were not visible. According to a shotlist from Filmoteka Narodowa, the Jews are being deported to Auschwitz concentration camp. The deportation scenes with rail cars are also on Film ID 200, Story 245, from Bundesarchiv and on Film ID 2986, Stories 1432 and 1433 (Filmoteka Narodowa). Filmoteka Narodowa considers this deportation film, under signature MF 053, an "orphan work". USHMM Betacam made from VHS copies provided by WFDiF.
